A view of Kanorigad- the source of the 1978 massive landslide disaster in the Bhagirathi valley which in one stroke increased the river bed level at the Tehri Dam site by 13 feet, radically altering the projected capacity of the reservoir.

The lower area of the Dabrani land-slide continues to be very unstable and prone to continuous landslides. Pilgrims are seen trans-shipping across a landslide the rubble of which adds greatly to the silt-loads of the Bhagirathi river directly below the road.
