| Abstract | Damodar P. Singhal’s study material on Mahatma Gandhi and the national movement. It includes the Indian National Congress’s response to the Rowlatt Act, the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and subsequent investigation, the Khilafat movement and Mahatma Gandhi’s launch of the Non-Cooperation movement. The papers contain resolutions and reports passed by the All-India Congress Committee, Gandhi’s speeches, letters and articles published in his newspapers ‘Navjivan’ or ‘Navajivan’ and ‘Young India’, and a letter to the editor of the newspaper ‘The Bombay Chronicle’. Also includes excerpts from India’s Freedom Movement by B. Shiva Rao, The Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi – A Contemporary Perspective by Anima Bose, The Meanings of Gandhi edited by Paul F. Power, Gandhi Centenary Papers edited by Dr. K. S. Saxena, Gandhi as a Political Thinker by B. S. Sharma and ‘Mahatma Gandhi- Political Philosopher?’ by W. H. Morris Jones (1960), along with comments and notes by Damodar P. Singha, and a list of transcripts with special reference to Gandhi. The file also contains chapters 1 and 2 of Damodar P. Singhal’s typed manuscript ‘He Died on Time’ or ‘Sadhana: A Political Biography of Mahatma Gandhi’+ 1 duplicate (undated) and a typed bibliography on Gandhi in South Africa (undated). |
