| Abstract | Damodar P. Singhal’s research material on social change, education, healthcare and labour in colonial and postcolonial India, for his book on Modern India. It includes typed notes given to Damodar P. Singhal for his book on modern India, selected extracts on social change and education from Angus Maddison’s book Class Structure and Economic Growth: India and Pakistan since the Mughals (1971), excerpts from G. R Madan’s book Social Change and Problems of Development in India (1971), article titled ‘The Educational Situation in 1947’ and various newspaper clippings. Also includes extract from S. D. Punekar and C. M. George’s ‘25 Years of Labour Legislation and Social Welfare’, an excerpt from Government of India’s 1976 booklet, Years of Achievement – Education and Culture, J.P Naik’s Mudaliah Oration on health services at the 1977 Conference of the All-India Association for the Advancement of Medical Education an excerpt titled ‘Education and Culture’ from the ‘Ministry of Education’s Annual Report for 1977-78’, and D. Banerji’s paper reading of ‘Developments in the Health Services in India.’ |
