Abstract Papers on Indira Gandhi's election victories, her political and economic policies, and the Emergency. It includes newspaper clippings from Swarajya Weekly and The Hindu, along with writings detailing K. Santhanam's criticisms of the Indira Gandhi governments regarding the nationalization of major banks and general insurance, the abolition of privy purses, the dissolution of the Lok Sabha in 1970, and the alliance with the DMK in 1971. Also holds K. Santhanam's press statements and letters to newspaper editors on the need to revoke the emergency (June-July 1975) and his pamphlet Emergency, Discipline and Democracy (September 1975). Additionally, it features articles on amending the constitution and threats to democracy during the Emergency, S.K. Patil's letter to members of Parliament (July 3, 1975), an open letter to Indira Gandhi by an advocate, and a court judgement (September 1, 1975). Further contents include K. Santhanam's interview published in Himmat (16-7-1976), his article, 'How to protect democracy?' (1977) and K.S. Ramanujam's, 'Rise and Fall of Mrs. Indira Gandhi & Mr. Karunanidhi' (1978). There is also correspondence between K. Santhanam and V.M. Tarkunde, J.B. Kripalani, M.R. Masani, V.B. Karnik, P.G. Mavalankar, Khushwant Singh, and Rajmohan Gandhi, as well as a copy of a letter (1967) sent from M.O. Mathai, Nehru's private secretary, to Padmaja Naidu about Indira Gandhi.
