Abstract The file contains papers related to the Five-Year Plans and the Planning Commission of India. They include clippings from The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Mail, Bharat-Jyoti, Eastern Economist, Swarajya Weekly, and Tribune, unpublished and draft articles on the relationship between the Planning Commission and Union government, military expenditure and agricultural policy, planning and Union-State financial relations, the history of planning in India, K. Santhanam�s criticisms of the Five-Year Plans such as in his article, �Chaos In Planning Edifice� (1964), the inability of planning to increase national integration, and his suggestions to improve economic stability. The file also contains a letter from M. Ananthasayanam Ayyangar to K. Santhanam on planning (8-6-1964).
